Assessment of the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Among a Rural Population in South India Using the Indian Diabetic Risk Score

Objective The objective of our study was to assess the risk for diabetes using Indian Diabetic Risk Score (IDRS) questionnaire and compare components IDRS between groups. Methods It a cross-sectional involving 270 male female attendees who visited Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute Medical Sciences (MAPIMS) from December 2019 May 2020. assessed questionnaire. Statistical Package Social (SPSS) version 20 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY) used statistical analysis. P < 0.05 considered statistically significant. Results categorization showed 12.6%, 73.7%, 13.7% in low-risk, moderate-risk, high-risk groups, respectively. Age, waist circumference, body mass index (BMI) were significantly (P 0.05) higher group when compared with low-risk group. Subjects positive family history no/mild physical activity moderate but there is no significant association present them. Conclusion current estimates effectiveness identifying people at high community. This also emphasizes need early identification individuals planning appropriate intervention prevent, or delay, onset thus reduces burden India.
